Rescuing Horses, Changing Lives

Horses have been the heartbeat of my life for as long as I can remember. However, it was later years that I truly understood the profound weight of that connection. What began as a personal passion evolved into a realization that these incredible animals have a unique power to change, heal, and elevate the human Spirit
We are more than a boarding facility—we are a community dedicated to transformation. While we provide exceptional care and a peaceful environment for every horse entrusted to us, our greatest pride lies in the partnerships we foster. We are honored to collaborate with local nonprofit organizations committed to:

Winter Rose Equestrian Team is a 501(c)3, nonprofit organization and Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) riding team that helps youths in grades 4-12 achieve their dreams of training and participating in competitive equestrian shows at the local, regional, zone, and national level.
Our team at Winter Rose Equestrian aims to provide more than just an avenue for competition, we strive to promote teamwork, well-rounded horsemanship, and community service.

IEA is a national 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to introducing and promoting lifelong involvement in equestrian athletics.
IEA utilizes a unique draw-based team competition format whereby riders are not required to own their own horse or riding tack to participate – providing greater affordability and access to the sport.
IEA has nearly 15,000 members across the United States coaching 3 disciplines – HUNT SEAT, WESTERN and DRESSAGE.

UpBeat Equine is a nonprofit committed to offering trauma-informed clinical equine psychotherapy to the community with licensed clinicians. We take great pride in caring for our horses, supporting our staff, and creating a safe, healing environment for our clients.

Kill Pen Horses
Kill pen horses are horses held at feedlots or auctions, destined for slaughterhouses in Canada or Mexico.
Off-the-track Thoroughbreds (OTTBs) known for their beauty intelligence and athleticism with the assistance of the IEA nonprofit program onsite we help transition thoroughbreds into their second careers to avoid entering in the slaughter pipeline.
The ASPCA is committed to ensuring the welfare of equines across the United States, creating programs that support both horses and their owners—including the ASPCA Right Horse program, which helps horses in transition find new beginnings. At Lotus Equine, we are proud to carry that mission forward by rehabilitating rescued horses and guiding them on their journey to becoming healthy, happy partners once again.

These magnificent animals often endure profound trauma from transport, neglect, and harsh auction conditions. Many arrive exhausted, malnourished, and dehydrated, carrying both physical wounds and deep emotional scars.
In our care, they find a safe and nurturing environment where patience, compassion, and gentle handling help them heal, rebuild trust, and ultimately thrive as confident, well-adjusted companions—ready to embrace brighter days filled with comfort, connection, and joy.
Sonia Valdez, CEO of Lotus Equine Rescue, is guided by a deep belief in second chances and the quiet resilience of horses in need. Through compassion, dedication, and tireless care, the organization rescues and rehabilitates horses, giving them the opportunity to heal and thrive once more. For those who feel a shared calling to protect and uplift these magnificent animals, support is always meaningful—monetary gifts, as well as donations of veterinary care, feed, and tack, are graciously accepted and make a tangible difference in each horse’s journey toward a healthier, purposeful, and happier life.
